The weekend of July 18-20, 2008 was filled with white parties all over Chicago land. I attended two of the stepper sets, first up on Saturday, was the Majestic Gents proclaiming to be 'the official steppin’ in strictly white' party of the summer at the Willow Brook Grand Ballroom. All the members, Pete, Greg, Lionel (Fish), Mike, Moe, John (VA), Linda and Que (club sweethearts) were in attendance along with a massive crowd of people looking rather spiffy in their white outfits. While walking around, I felt like I was at a Gents Memorial Day reunion with steppers coming in from different states to partake in this event. I gave hugs to Gail, Leon, Regina (Rockford), and Kirk Pacley (Atlanta) who took a break from steppin’ to take a picture with me and the women at my table. I'm sure that was hard to do because DJ Mellow Kris was truly jamming on the 1, 2, and 3's from start to finish.
There was no half time routine, only and introduction of the members, one slide song, quick birthday lines for Smoke, Peaches and Ezell and then back to steppin’. The beautiful Camsbb also came over to my table and jokingly told me an old saying about talking people. 'Talk about me, talk about Sammy, talk about Sammy, talk about your mammy.'
The Majestic Gents are in collaboration with VIP Productions and Dreamgirls Production to host the 1st steppers convention in Chicago on Thanksgiving weekend. Steppers around the world are encouraged to 'save the date' of November 28-30, 2008 for this historic event, which includes parties, workshops, shopping and site seeing of the magnificent downtown Chicago.
The following day, Sunday, July 20, Dreamgirls piggy backed with a white party of their own. Coming through the door, I laughed with Ms. Naomi about yet another white party and she asked if I was running out of white clothes to wear. The color is so clean, cool, and refreshing I told her I need a lot more white parties to accommodate my white wardrobe.
Burbank Manor opened their doors to the group and one of the gentlemen Harvey, to celebrate his birthday. The other club gentlemen are Greg, Tall Pall and Daryl. I was introduced to Pat Clay, originally from Chicago but now residing in Atlanta, who had been celebrating her birthday the entire weekend. JaWanda (Chicago) and Cori Clemons (Atlanta) coordinated the surprise for her. I also met Allison Johnson-Kendall of Atlanta who came in town with Pat for the fun. Pat has relocated quite a bit since leaving Chicago and I had to inquire if it was all career moves. Pat believes in leading by example and stated she tells her daughters 'Don't just believe what you hear or read about in the world, go out and be a part of it, live the world.'
While steppin’ to the wonderful sounds of the musical host DJ Steve Breeze Brewer, I reintroduced myself to Bill G (VIP Productions) who didn't recognize me with a different hair style. We laughed as he was very apologetic and told me this happened to him at another party as a women became very angry with him for the mishap. Ladies we will either have to keep our hair the same, forgive these men, or just do as I do, reintroduce yourself.

The Dreamgirls are doing their thing and Christine I must compliment you on your hard work. The White Party was very nice and Steve Breeze did his thing on the box. Nice mature crowd.
