Two days from now a year ago, I would rupture my achilles tendon and have to sit on the sidelines for close to 6 months. I remember experiencing an overwhelming feeling of depression. I don't dance nearly as much as I used to, but it's very different when you don't have the choice.
While hobbling around on my crutches at the 2007 WLSC, I bumped in to Khalil "DramaFree" for the first time, who told me that he popped his tendon and recovered really well. Less than a week later, Khalil ruptured his other tendon. I'm also reminded of Rochella Palmer and Tracey Dyess, who were recently sidelined due to knee injuries. Also, Steppin' Greg, who lost a foot and Tonya Harris, who had surgery on her feet; Arlene of DeJa Vu who has suffered ailments that have kept her away from the dance. And most recently, my main man DJ Steve "Breeze" Brewer, who has been in the hospital overcoming medical issues.
So I hate to start your morning off with gloom and doom, but how would it affect your life if you learned that due to some physical ailment, you wouldn't be able to participate in the dance for an extended period of time. Would it depress you, or would you just find other things to do.

Forced To Sit Down

I feel you on that one T. Pratt. I had surgery nearly six weeks ago and I still can't step on the dance floor. It's killing me! All I can do is watch from the sidelines. I feel like a player being put on the disabled list in sports.
Forced To Sit Down
I'd get over it.
Forced To Sit Down
I actually enjoy watching others dance, so I would be alright with sitting down for a short while. I doubt if I would get depressed. I would just have to find other ways to make myself useful on the Steppin' scene until I could get back in the game.

What up T ?, my "Surgically Repaired Achilles Twin", for those who have not experience an achilles tendon rupture, trust us when we say, "it's no joke!". When I was down, initially I stayed away completely because mobility was definitely an issue. Then after awhile, I started watching some steppin' videos and attempted to create moves in my head. After I returned to the floor, I actually got compliments that I had gotten smoother, lol. Hey "when handed lemons...make lemonade." Make use of your timely wisely and be constructive.
Be careful when judging others, God at least waits until the end of a person's days before he judges!

I, myself agree with drama free, making use of what u got is key to getting better, I personally love watching people dance expecially the heavy hitters. "When given lemons...make lemonade", that couldnt have made more sense, lol Ive set on the side many a time without dancin, and learned a lot. i remember watchin TYK, do a turn and from wathcin I learned how to position myself to make the turn possible, so its not a full waste to not being able to dance, take care
