Chistepper People's Choice Awards

Today is the last day to vote in the Chistepper.com 2008 People's Choice Awards. The awards have generated an overwhelming response and Chistepper.com will release the winners as planned, but other parts of the final survey results will be released as tallied. If you haven't had an opportunity to vote, make sure you click on the box in the upper right hand corner of the website.

Finally, the survey for Chistepper.com's 2007 People's Choice Awards is complete. The survey is comprised of 34 Multiple Choice Questions, with one Write In Question at the end. All questions display randomly for each respondent (i. e. the questions change order for each individual survey). The finalist were chosen by Chistepper.com and final contestants were determined based on telephone conversations, emails, and general Steppin' knowledge. Out-of-Chicagoans who are known to us were included in the survey. Unfortunately, a lot of information about popular steppers and Steppin' venues out-of-Chicago is not as readily available as most of the reknowned steppers and Steppin' venues in Chicago.

To be included as a finalist, you had to be an active stepper in 2007. Chistepper.com can verify that every stepper on this list graced the dance floor in 2007, and thus, are eligible for the 2007 People's Choice Awards. As for the survey, only one vote is allowed per computer. However, steppers must realize, that their are individuals like myself, who have access to many computers (I have 5 computers in my own home alone, 2 at work, and 3 at my close friends house). Personally, I wouldn't vote for myself more than once, because I'd like to see what the people really thought of me. With that being said, most people will vote for themselves more than once, so if you are inclined to do so, it is certainly your prerogative. Steppers be mindful, People's Choice Awards are by their very nature, designed to acknowledge those individuals who are not only the most talented, but the most popular (or unpopular). For this purpose, don't be alarmed if your favorite person and/or the best person (in your eyes) does not win. In the end, it is all in fun. Your reputation is not ruined if you don't win.

Lastly, I excluded myself and Chistepper.com from all of the categories. It would be pretty irresponsible for us to participate in an Awards agenda that we are hosting. We've created some fun and interesting new categories, to go along with some of the old faithfuls, which really make what we hope to be a solid attempt to categorize some of the nation's best steppers based on their strongest skills. Inevitably, we will leave out some highly accomplished heavy hittin' stepper. This is not discredit their talent and or skill set. Either we haven't seen you out, haven't seen you compete, haven't been privy to your ability, or didn't think you belonged on the list in 2007. Please charge it to our heads and not our heart if you were forgotten.  In addition, it is virtually impossible to recognize every talented individual in the Steppin' game.  Next year, all of the nominations for these categories will take place online. Please note that while Chistepper.com attempts to be as unbiased as possible (meaning that even if publisher T. Pratt does not like a particular stepper personally, they will still get their props for their ability on the site), some steppers are biased against Chistepper.com. Consequently, some steppers have asked not to be affiliated with the site, and for this purpose they have been excluded. If your name is in any one of these categories and you'd like it removed, please send publisher T. Pratt an email. Remember however, somebody thought you were good enough nominate you. The voting period for these awards will end Monday, February 11th, 2008 at midnight (3 Full Weeks). The results will be tallied and presented to the public on Tuesday, February 12th, 2008.
