Ken Bedford threw an incredible set at the Lexington House this past Friday night that featured sultry soul singer, Chante Moore and opening act Feloney.  Chante arrived dressed for the occasion in white and looking extraordinarily gorgeous.  She wasted no time getting into the music and kicked off her set with “Love’s Taken Over.”  It wasn’t the “Rain Mix” version that Steppers are used to, but it was dope nonetheless.

Chante performed a few records from her upcoming album like “Talking In His Sleep,” a smooth track with a heavy baseline before moving into more of her Steppers tracks.  She then went right into a few Steppers classics like “I Cry To Myself,” “Old School Loving,” and “Bitter.”  Usually the Steppers dance when acts with great Steppers records perform, but Chante was so captivating most of the Steppers crowded around the stage to take pictures and sing along.

In full disclosure, Chante Moore is one of my top 5 favorite female singers of all time, so just about anything she does is going to be incredible to me, but she really was amazing.  Her voice is still strong and clear; she can go way up top or down low vocally, her stage presence is warm and inviting, and she still looked delectable with a half shaved head and a fit body.  I was so enamored by her performance at Ken’s set that I bought a VIP ticket to see her again on Sunday at The Moxie Lounge in Merriville, Indiana.  It was another intimate set, where she sang about 4 of her hits in acapella.

Keith Washington opened the set at The Moxie and that brother can still throw down as well.  He and Chante sang a couple of their duets together, performing for the intimate crowd like they were at the United Center.  Ken says he’s going to bring Chante Moore and Keith Washington back for Valentine’s Day next year, and if he does, guess who’s going to be right up front!

Be on the lookout for Chante Moore’s new CD, “Moore is More” releasing July 10, the same day that that she appears on R&B Divas Los Angeles.
