In Chicago, the Steppers were as much in awe of his spirit, as they were his talent and vocal ability. Don't get it twisted though, the brother killed it. He sang his Steppers classics Breathe Love, Hopes Too High, Never Leave You Lonely, and Maybe I'm Not The Man. Marcell finished his set but the Steppers weren't quite ready for him to leave, so Marcell gave an encore performance of Maybe I'm Not The Man. Marcell, affected by the weather and a slight fever, was then challenged by R. Kelly choreographer and Steppin' instructor Andre Blackwell to sing a track acapella. Marcell chose Donny Hathaway's "Song For You" to a crowd of cheering and highly appreciative Steppers.
Afterwards he signed autographs and sold CDs and where most artists would have checked out and headed back to the hotel, Marcell hit the dance floor to House it up Chicago style. ChiStepper.com, Dre and Company, and Ken Bedford Productions would like to sincerly thank Marcell and the opening act DJ Markey for their performances. DJ Markey warmed the crowd up with his popular Steppers tunes The Record Is Over and I Wanna Go Steppin'. DJ Cross kept the music pumping and we got a surprise guest DJ appearance by DJ Shorty Smooth.
A host of top Steppers came out to support including Ken Amorio, Donnie Davis, Tall Rick Wetherspoon, Jamie Graham, Sunshine, Lola Harding, Tina Moore, Franchon Turner, Charnice Simmons, Smoke Dixon, Feo Duncan, Candace Hinton, LaKeesha Anderson, Devan and Cheryl Powe, Monique Salter and Will, Chase and so many other beautiful people form all over the nation. Once again, shouts out to Memphis (I'm going to keep blowing you all up).
Special thanks go out to Sharon Bolden, Tajianna Wade, and Cindy Bedford for helping out on the door. Big Jeff and Gil for working security, Cynthia Bean for all her help (She represented at the Embrace The Dance Ball), Cheryl Powe, Charnice Simmons for pumping us up, Art Yanni of the Alhambra Palace, Jodine Basterash of Masterpiece Enterprises, Ron Brown (Just Steppin' out of Oakland, CA) and Akkeem "The Dream" Berry Sr. and Denise Berry (my big brother and sister) who helped tremendously make this affair by getting the Westside out and bringing Commissioner Anazette Collins out. I love you big bruh!
