According to Livesteez, Jay-Z and Beyonce are at the top of Forbe’s power couples list for earnings this year:
The music industry’s hottest couple, Bey and Jay raked in mega dough this past year, as if it wasn’t already expected, considering the multiple million-dollar business ventures they’re both linked to.
The royal pair topped Forbes’ richest celebrity couples list, collectively making a whopping $162 million in 2008, beating out other power couples who also make big bucks.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith took the No. 2 spot, with $85 million earned together, while David and Victoria Beckham rounded out the top three with annual earnings of $58 million, reports say.
“Naturally, powerful people tend to gravitate toward other powerful people,” clinical psychologist and celebrity researcher Jim Houran tells the magazine.
In related news, Mrs. Sasha Fierce appeared on BET’s 106 & Park Tuesday, promoting the release of her new album “I Am ….Sasha Fierce,” in which she performed the hit single, ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)’. After the electric performance, Bey’ could be seen flashing her husband’s signature ‘Roc’ sign, preceded by a Heart, as she bashfully snickered at the camera.
WTF!!!! $162 million dollars in 2008 and the d@mn year isn’t even over yet. That makes Will and Jada’s $85 million look like lunch money. Congrats to both couples, though.

On a brisk March day in Rahway, N.J., Beyoncé and Adrien Brody are filming a crucial scene for their upcoming movie “Cadillac Records.” The set is an old Ukranian social club that has been converted into a 1950s production studio, complete with vintage instruments and cream, perforated walls. Musicians, dressed in porkpie hats and carrying rusted saxophones, mill around the room atop a grey and rose pink tiled floor.
Dressed in an off-the-shoulder blue brocade dress, teal earrings, long black eyelashes and a frosted blonde wig, Beyoncé is channeling the fiery Etta James. Brody is playing Chess Records founder Leonard Chess in the film based on the ’50s blues label that released such greats as James and Muddy Waters. Beyoncé, as James, is about to perform “I’d Rather Go Blind” with her band when Brody, as Chess, interrupts. Rumor has it that Chess and James had a romantic relationship that never flowered because of circumstance, and Brody and Beyoncé are doing a good job of depicting that sexual tension.
“Cadillac Records” hits theaters Dec. 5, two weeks after Beyoncé’s double-album “I Am . . . Sasha Fierce” from Music World/Columbia Records hits shelves Nov. 18. It will be the singer’s third solo album and the first since she adopted a bit of James’ classic flair. “Doing ‘Cadillac Records,’ I realized that Etta James was so unapologetic, bold and strong that playing her was a big risk for me,” Beyoncé says. “It gave me the confidence and the push to challenge myself a little more with my music.”
It’s a good time for Beyoncé to be brave. On “I Am . . . Sasha Fierce,” the singer capitalizes on her established R&B fan base while stretching her pop music wings with radio-friendly tracks that she describes as “timeless.”
“I think we’ll sell 750,000 to 1 million copies [in the] first week,” says Music World head Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé’s father and manager. “I know that’s ambitious with the declining market, but Beyoncé is so focused on transitioning from pop star to icon that we’re paying attention to every single detail.”

That guy’s a genius, man. That’s probably the highlight of my career. He’s the most humble cool dude. When you stop and think about all of the controversies and articles on him, they don’t even reflect the person that I saw. I always say if people got the chance to actually meet the man behind all of the controversy, they would be embarrassed to even have that thought. He’s totally different from the normal perception that you see.
We feel you, Akon. But there’s nothing normal about a nightly routine of taking your nose off and placing it in a jewel-studded Peter Pan case.

Brandy revealed some information about why she lied to the world:
Singer Brandy opens up for the first time to Us Weekly about her fake marriage and the “traumatic” car accident that left one person dead.
In 2002, Brandy Norwood announced she’d secretly wed music producer Robert Smith the year before - just four months before giving birth to their baby, Sy’rai, when just 22 years old. The pair even acted as husband and wife on MTV series Brandy: A Special Delivery, which documented their daughter’s birth.
But after calling it quits in 2003, Smith told a radio station the marriage never happened.
“I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model,” Norwood, 29, reveals to Us Weekly in her first interview on the topic.
“Our relationship was very real, we just weren’t legally married,” she adds.
Poor thang had no clue we already knew why she lied. We didn’t believe that whole ‘Moesha’ act for one second and knew those young prep school backs were getting tore up, just like the other girls.

Davis, a longtime Clinton friend who was special counsel in his White House and has consulted the Clinton camp in recent days.

T-Pain says it’s a wrap for everyone ‘biting’ off his little vocoder, Auto-Tune swag:
At the end of the “Can’t Believe It” remix, T-Pain says that Auto-Tune is almost up. What? Why would Pain, whose Thr33 Ringz debuts at #4 on next week’s Billboard albums sales chart, extinguish his signature sound now?
“Not for me,” Pain clarified, “for everybody else.” The singer — who told DJ Skee in a separate interview that artists such as Ron Browz have used the Auto-Tune effect poorly. If Diddy can collaborate with Pain and pay him for using the Auto-Tune, so can you other guys. “Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using Auto-Tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It’s Diddy. He didn’t have to involve me at all. … I’m writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back.”

Usher’s mom is being investigated by one-time:
Police have launched an investigation looking into whether or not Usher’s mother and former manager, Jonnetta Patton, scammed a limo driver during the recent BET Awards.
A freelance limo driver says that Patton used his services for her Atlanta-based transportation company, but never paid him his $1,668 for services. He has since filed a complaint. According to TMZ, Patton’s camp is currently mum regarding the complaint and investigation. Dekalb County detectives are actively looking into the case.
Come on, Jonetta; you couldn’t afford to pay that little tab? We can only imagine that something must have happened to disrupt her monthly allowance from Usher. SMH

Al Qaeda has issued a statement to Obama and other top black politicians:
A purported message from al Qaeda’s deputy leader posted on Islamist Web sites on Wednesday told President-elect Barack Obama that “a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits you.”
Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda’s No. 2, castigated Obama, saying “in you and in Colin Powell, (Condoleezza) Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning ‘House Negroes’ are confirmed.”
It sounds as though this message has a little ambiguity and can be dissected a few different ways, but for the safety of Obama and our country, we’re going to take that message as fighting words.
